Bony Ridge

Standing tall

A force not to be reckoned with

An instantly captivating presence

Its emaciated skeleton protruding from

Its fiery head.

Its skin

The color of evergreen, cacti, and wildflowers

Burnt by the sun’s penetrating rays.

Its body stretched for miles

Its breath

A tranquil wind from the west

Nature’s majesty.

Leaves

Leaves

Are everywhere

In the trees

On the ground

Here them

Crunch

And crackle

As I walk

Over them

On a hazy

Fall day.
